Quote of the Year

There is much talk in Israel of the special relationship between the United States and Israel, especially in light of President Obama's focus on enforcing his concept of a peace agreement on Israel.

As president after president is elected in the US, each comes and declares HE will be the one to make peace - never accepting that it isn't for the US to make peace. There will be no peace in the Middle East until BOTH sides want it...more than they want to destroy the other.

Israel has proved - again and again and again - that it is ready for peace. It has taken dangerous steps, hoping its sacrifices will bring peace...only to find these efforts fail because of a single missing element - a partner with which to make peace. A friend sent me this quote today - it is, as he wrote in his email - most definitely the quote of the year:
"On a more serious front, I sincerely hope that when the president goes in for his annual check-up, the doctors at Bethesda will do a brain scan. Surely something must be terribly wrong with a man who seems to be far more concerned with a Jew building a house in Israel than with Muslims building a nuclear bomb in Iran."
